Have you recently ordered a new Volvo XC60 or collected yours from the dealership? The paint looks pristine, the interior feels refined, and naturally, you want to preserve that condition for years to come.
But how should you protect your Volvo XC60 against stone chips, light scratches and everyday wear on Finnish roads?
Should you choose paint protection film, ceramic coating or a combination of both?
Paint protection film (PPF) reduces the risk of certain mechanical damage on protected body panels. Ceramic coating improves water repellency and makes the vehicle easier to clean.
For many XC60 owners, protecting the front end with PPF and ceramic coating the remaining paintwork offers a sensible balance between protection, appearance and cost.
This guide explains Restyling Point’s PPF packages, prices, ceramic coating and other protection services for the Volvo XC60.
Which parts of the Volvo XC60 should be protected?
The Volvo XC60 is a premium midsize SUV available in plug-in hybrid versions such as the T6 and T8.
The Finnish 2027 model range includes Core, Plus, Ultra and Black Edition variants. Equipment can affect the exterior trim, wheel designs, panoramic roof and interior materials.
For protection purposes, several areas deserve particular attention.
Front bumper and hood: These are exposed to road debris and stone chips, particularly during highway driving.
Front fenders and mirror caps: These may also experience exposure and can be relevant for extended front-end PPF packages.
Lower doors and rocker panels: Gravel, sand, road salt and winter dirt create repeated exposure. Painted surfaces and textured plastic parts need to be assessed individually.
Interior door sills and trunk loading area: Shoes, luggage, strollers and sports equipment can leave marks on frequently touched surfaces.
Interior display and center console: Suitable protective films can reduce light contact and cleaning marks on compatible materials.
The right solution depends on how the vehicle is used. Not every panel needs protection, but the surfaces most exposed to everyday wear deserve consideration.
PPF or ceramic coating – what is the difference?
PPF is a physical protective film fitted to suitable painted body panels.
Ceramic coating is a thin surface treatment designed primarily to improve water repellency, cleaning and appearance.
| Feature | PPF | Ceramic coating |
|---|---|---|
| Stone chip protection | Yes, within product limits | No |
| Light scratch resistance | Product-dependent | Not a mechanical scratch barrier |
| Water repellency | Product-dependent | Yes |
| Easier washing | Product-dependent | Yes |
| Main purpose | Mechanical protection | Easier maintenance |
If highway stone chips are your primary concern, PPF is the relevant choice.
If easy washing and maintaining a glossy appearance matter most, ceramic coating may be sufficient.
The two can also complement each other.
Volvo XC60 2026–2027 PPF packages and prices
Restyling Point offers five main levels of paint protection.
The following prices are marked as off-season prices in the Volvo XC60/XC90 price list, covering November to the end of February.
| Package | Coverage | Off-season price |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Lower-body wear areas | €479 |
| Core | Front bumper and hood | €1,129 |
| Essential | Extended front-end protection | €1,739 |
| Advanced | Front and lower-body protection | €2,199 |
| Ultimate Gloss | Agreed full exterior | €5,999 |
| Ultimate Matte | Agreed exterior with a matte finish | €6,299 |
| Interior | Screen and center console | €299 |
The listed prices include Finnish VAT of 25.5%. Vehicle washing is charged in addition to exterior PPF packages.
Basic PPF – everyday wear protection
Off-season price: €479.
Basic includes two rocker panels, the lower edges of four doors and both rear bumper corners.
It focuses on surfaces exposed to sand, gravel and everyday wear.
Basic suits XC60 owners who want to protect selected lower-body areas without investing in more extensive exterior coverage.
The benefit is confidence that several frequently exposed areas have been addressed.
However, Basic does not include the hood or front bumper.
Core PPF – front bumper and hood
Off-season price: €1,129.
Core protects the front bumper and hood.
These are two important front-facing painted surfaces exposed to road debris during highway and country-road driving.
Core suits owners who want to concentrate their budget on protecting the front of the vehicle.
The benefit is less concern about certain stone chips and the cosmetic condition of these prominent panels.
Core does not include front fenders, headlights, mirrors or rocker panels.
Essential PPF – extended front-end protection
Off-season price: €1,739.
Essential covers the hood, front bumper, both front fenders, the front sections of the door mirrors and both headlights where suitable and permitted.
It provides more extensive front-end protection than Core.
Essential is particularly relevant for owners who frequently travel long distances and want to protect several important exposure areas at the same time.
Beyond physical protection, the package can provide peace of mind during daily highway driving.
Rocker panel protection is not included.
Advanced PPF – front and lower-body coverage
Off-season price: €2,199.
Advanced combines Essential and Basic.
It includes extended front-end protection together with rocker panels, lower door sections and both rear bumper corners.
The price list identifies Advanced as a recommended choice.
Advanced may suit owners who drive approximately 20,000–40,000 kilometers per year and regularly use their XC60 in different weather conditions.
The practical benefit is protection for both highway exposure areas and everyday lower-body wear.
Advanced is not full-body PPF. Large door surfaces and extensive rear-body panels remain uncovered.
Ultimate PPF – extensive exterior protection
Ultimate Gloss: €5,999.
Ultimate Matte: €6,299.
Ultimate is Restyling Point’s most comprehensive PPF package.
It includes the agreed painted exterior body panels and separately specified compatible components.
Depending on equipment, these may include the front bumper, hood, fenders, doors, mirrors, rocker panels, rear bumper, tailgate and suitable painted roof panels or spoilers.
Glass, interior areas, door apertures and all textured plastic components are not automatically included.
Ultimate Gloss aims to preserve the original glossy appearance.
Ultimate Matte changes the finish of suitable painted panels using a matte protective film.
Ultimate suits owners who intend to keep their XC60 for several years and want extensive mechanical paint protection.
The emotional benefit is peace of mind: a larger portion of the vehicle is protected against everyday cosmetic damage.
PPF cannot, however, prevent every deep scratch, dent or severe impact.

Interior protection
Off-season price: €299.
The Volvo price list includes protection for the screen and center console.
A suitable film may reduce light contact marks and scratches on compatible interior surfaces.
The exact coverage depends on the vehicle’s equipment and materials.
Individual PPF protection options
Not every owner needs a complete package.
Restyling Point can assess individual protection options such as interior door sills, the trunk loading area, door handle surroundings and suitable glossy trim.
The Volvo price list does not specify prices for these individual services, so quotations are prepared separately.
For family use, protecting a regularly contacted loading area or interior sill may provide considerable everyday value.
Volvo XC60 detailing and ceramic coating
Mechanical protection is only one aspect of keeping a Volvo XC60 in good condition.
Many owners also value easy washing, glossy paintwork and a well-maintained interior.
Washing, paint preparation and polishing
At Restyling Point, every vehicle receiving a ceramic paint coating undergoes at least light, single-stage polishing.
This also applies to brand-new vehicles.
Minor surface marks may develop during transport, storage or pre-delivery preparation.
The amount of polishing is based on the actual condition of the paint.
Occasionally, even a new vehicle may require more extensive paint correction.
Ceramic paint coating
Ceramic coating improves water repellency and makes treated surfaces easier to wash.
This is particularly useful during Finnish winters, when road salt, dirt and other contaminants accumulate on the vehicle.
The benefit for owners is simpler maintenance and less effort required to keep the car looking presentable.
Ceramic coating does not replace PPF for stone chip protection.
Ceramic wheel coating
Wheel coating helps make brake dust and road dirt easier to remove from compatible surfaces.
It does not protect against curb impacts.
Leather and interior coatings
The Volvo XC60 may have different upholstery materials depending on the equipment level.
Suitable protective treatments can help make certain leather, synthetic leather or textile surfaces easier to clean.
The correct products depend on the actual material.
Glass coating
Glass coating can improve water repellency and simplify cleaning.
It does not repair stone chips or eliminate the need for wipers and regular maintenance.
Volvo XC60 window tinting
Window tinting can improve privacy, influence the vehicle’s appearance and provide product-dependent solar heat management.
Suitable rear-window tinting may be useful for families seeking additional rear-seat comfort.
UV and heat rejection depend on the actual film specification, not simply its darkness.
Before installation, factory tint, glass construction, heating elements and applicable Finnish regulations are assessed.
Partial wrapping and chrome delete
Selected Volvo XC60 exterior trim, mirror caps and other compatible parts may be customized using vinyl wrapping.
Chrome delete typically changes the appearance of bright decorative trim to black.
Black Edition variants already feature dark exterior details, so the potential benefit depends on the vehicle’s actual specification.
Roof wrapping also depends on material suitability. A panoramic glass roof is not equivalent to a painted roof.
Conventional vinyl mainly changes appearance rather than providing PPF-level mechanical protection.
Full color change – vinyl or colored PPF?
A full exterior color change can be achieved using conventional vinyl wrap or colored PPF.
Vinyl wrapping primarily changes the vehicle’s color and finish.
Colored PPF combines a visual change with product-specific mechanical protection.
The materials differ in price, appearance, maintenance and protective characteristics.
If appearance is the priority, vinyl may be suitable.
If mechanical paint protection is also important, colored PPF deserves consideration.
Which protection package suits your Volvo XC60?
Everyday city driving
If you drive relatively few kilometers and mainly value easy maintenance, ceramic coating and selected protection for door sills and loading areas may be sufficient.
Frequent highway driving
Essential offers extended front-end PPF protection.
Advanced adds lower-body coverage for owners who want broader protection against everyday exposure.
Long-term family ownership
If you intend to keep your XC60 for four to seven years, Advanced may provide a sensible combination of protection and cost.
Ultimate is worth considering if extensive coverage is a priority.
Maximum agreed exterior coverage
Ultimate provides the most comprehensive protection for suitable exterior panels.
Full-body PPF is not automatically necessary for every owner.
Why choose Restyling Point?
A high-quality PPF result depends on much more than the film itself.
At Restyling Point, work begins with assessing vehicle condition and discussing the customer’s needs.
Surface preparation, film positioning, edge finishing and final quality inspection are important stages.
Installers also undergo regular training and weekly cutting-skills assessments.
If a particular surface is unsuitable for film installation or offers little practical benefit when protected, we explain the alternatives.
Our aim is to recommend appropriate protection, not automatically the most expensive package.
Customers receive relevant care instructions and warranty information after completion.
Frequently asked questions about Volvo XC60 PPF
Can ceramic coating be applied over PPF?
Yes, but Restyling Point generally does not recommend applying it immediately after a new PPF installation.
Our protective films already include a factory-produced TopCoat layer that repels water and dirt.
According to our experience, these hydrophobic properties can gradually decline over approximately 6–24 months, depending on washing methods and vehicle use.
We recommend considering compatible ceramic coating once the original water repellency has noticeably weakened, generally no earlier than around six months.
Reduced water repellency alone does not mean the PPF has lost its mechanical protection or warranty.
There is little reason to pay for an additional treatment while the original TopCoat is still providing the desired benefit.
Does a new Volvo XC60 need polishing before ceramic coating?
At Restyling Point, yes.
Every vehicle receiving a ceramic paint coating undergoes at least light, single-stage polishing, even when the vehicle is brand-new.
Minor paint marks may occur during transport, storage or dealership preparation.
In 2026, Restyling Point encountered exceptional new vehicles requiring two- or three-stage polishing.
In one case, paint marks resulting from dealership handling were corrected with two-stage polishing.
The procedure is always selected according to the paint’s actual condition.
Can PPF be removed without damaging the paint?
Yes. Quality PPF is designed to be removable, and professional removal normally does not damage sound original factory paint.
Risks can increase if paint adhesion is poor, the surface is damaged or the panel was recently repainted.
Restyling Point requires at least six weeks after repainting before considering film installation, along with confirmation that the paint has cured sufficiently.
We assess vehicle condition and available repair history before work.
During more than 15 years of operation, Restyling Point reports no complaints involving original paint being removed with protective film. This is company experience, not an absolute guarantee.
Can PPF withstand Finnish winter temperatures?
Yes. Suitable, properly installed PPF is designed for year-round use in Finland.
In our experience, severe winter cold has not been a routine problem for the quality films we use.
Temperatures in extreme Finnish conditions can approach −45°C, although precise material limits depend on the manufacturer’s specifications.
Heat, UV exposure, ice, road salt and unsuitable washing methods can also affect the film.
A properly maintained PPF installation does not need to be removed for winter.
Can a PPF-protected car go through an automatic car wash?
In practice, yes, but Restyling Point primarily recommends suitable hand washing.
Automatic wash brushes and high-pressure water jets can stress the film and its edges. Damage caused by automatic washing is excluded from our warranty.
Our installation standards aim to conceal as many film edges as possible behind body panels. We estimate that approximately 98% can be finished this way in suitable installations.
Since 2011, Restyling Point reports no customer complaints involving PPF damage caused by automatic washing.
However, this does not mean every wash is risk-free.
Warranty conditions also restrict pressure washing near film edges, including a minimum distance of one meter.
How do you prevent knife damage during PPF installation?
At Restyling Point, cutting into a vehicle’s paint is strictly prohibited and classified as a serious workmanship error.
Installers undergo regular training and weekly cutting tests.
An installer who has not passed the required assessment cannot independently perform the relevant cutting work near painted panels.
If the test is failed, permission for that task is suspended until sufficient competence is demonstrated again.
Should an error nevertheless occur, Restyling Point takes responsibility for confirmed workmanship faults and arranges appropriate corrective work.
The company also maintains liability insurance, subject to its coverage and terms.
What happens if PPF begins to peel?
Contact Restyling Point so we can inspect the affected area.
Customer protection includes three separate elements.
Material warranty: Certain PPF products carry a manufacturer’s 10-year material warranty.
Installation warranty: Restyling Point provides a service-dependent installation warranty of one to three years for eligible workmanship defects.
Restyling AfterCare: A complimentary lifetime maintenance program for the original PPF customer, which can include local finishing work on certain worn or lifting film edges.
AfterCare does not mean free replacement of the entire film.

Will there be a color or gloss difference if only the front is protected?
High-quality clear Gloss PPF is designed to preserve the original paint color and shine as naturally as possible.
In our experience, carefully installed clear film can be difficult to distinguish from uncovered paint in normal viewing conditions.
Film edges and subtle optical differences may still be visible close up or under certain lighting.
Front-end PPF combined with ceramic coating on the remaining paintwork can create a visually consistent result without full-body film coverage.
Will insurance cover PPF and ceramic coating after an accident?
Restoring damaged PPF or ceramic coating may be included in an eligible motor insurance claim.
If another driver is responsible, their motor liability insurance may cover necessary reinstatement costs. These can include body repairs, painting, replacement PPF, ceramic coating and relevant labour.
Restyling Point’s experience includes cases where these services were included in insurance compensation.
If you cause the accident yourself, coverage depends on your own vehicle insurance terms.
Keep the installation invoice and work documentation, and confirm the applicable conditions with your insurer.
Final recommendation – how should you protect your Volvo XC60?
The right package depends on your driving habits and what matters most to you.
For easier washing and a well-maintained appearance, ceramic coating may be enough.
For front-end stone chip protection, Core or Essential may be appropriate.
For broader protection covering both front-end exposure and lower-body wear, consider Advanced.
For the most extensive agreed exterior protection and greater peace of mind over long-term ownership, Ultimate is the broadest option.
The best protection is not necessarily the most expensive package. It is the one that matches how you actually use your vehicle.
