Warranty Terms and Procedures for Ceramic Coating:
1. Before applying ceramic coating, the customer must mention any existing ceramic coatings, wraps, freshly painted body parts with a drying time of less than 6 weeks, and any other significant points or requests before bringing the car to Restyling Point.
2. When bringing the car for coating, it does not need to be washed. We will wash it thoroughly to pristine condition.
3. To maintain the warranty of the ceramic coating, the car must always be polished/buffed before the coating is applied. Even brand-new cars need polishing due to potential scratches and impurities.
4. If a customer wants the ceramic coating on an unpolished car surface, no warranty will be provided for the coating.
5. After coating, a 14-day car wash restriction must be followed. The coating hardens completely during this time. Any harmful substances (oil, fuel, acid, strong base, lye, bird droppings) can be safely removed with a pressure washer and dried with compressed air. Road chemicals or rain do not affect the coating’s drying within 14 days.
6. Coated cars must be hand-washed using designated cleaning agents and following the recommended dilution ratios. For advice on selecting the right cleaning agents, customers can inquire at Restyling Point during car delivery or via message. Instructions for washing matte-finish cars can be found here. – https://restyling.fi/blogi/mattapintaisen-auton-pesu/
7. Use only soft gloves and clean drying towels. If finishing your car wash, always use a machine-washed soft microfiber cloth. Avoid using brushes or other hard cleaning tools, such as rubber squeegees.
8. When taking your car to a hand car wash, follow and instruct the use of written washing instructions from Restyling Point. These instructions are provided when picking up your car from Restyling. Restyling Point is not responsible for damages that occur at the car wash due to incorrect washing methods. If you wash your car incorrectly or in a way that causes scratches, the warranty will be voided. Always wash your car clean before touching it with gloves. If pre-washing is ineffective, dirt will remain on the surface, which will transfer to the glove when touching the car’s surface, causing scratches.
10. The car must always be dried after washing. Leaving the car wet after washing always voids the coating warranty. Water droplets leave lime and other impurities on the coating, damaging its water repellency = hydrophobicity. Burnt-on lime may need to be polished off the car’s surface and windows in the worst-case scenario.
11. **THE COATING DOES NOT PREVENT SCRATCHES.** The coating creates a light water-repellent protection on the car’s clear coat. Due to its water-repellent properties, less dirt adheres to the car, thus affecting scratch formation. The finest scratches are removed with the coating’s Self Healing function. If a scratch occurs on the surface that cannot be removed with Self Healing, the scratch must always be mechanically polished. Ceramic coating is a liquid applied to the paint surface and cannot be compared to a paint protection film. Ceramic Coating vs. PPF
12. Ceramic coating wears off due to use and mechanical abrasion, such as opening points of body parts and their adjacent areas, such as door handles and fuel tank lids, etc. The coating also wears off more quickly from the lower sills and lower edges of the side doors due to stone chips.
13. Ceramic coating does not withstand careless use of an auto paint shop, such as in these situations: paint mist on the car’s surface, inadequately protected body parts, etc.
14. If you use your car in a brush-equipped machine car wash, the coating won’t withstand it, and the car will get scratched. This automatically voids the coating warranty. Similarly, vigorously brushing your car with a snow brush will also cause scratches on the surface. Always leave a 1 cm area of untouched snow on top of the paint surface. The coating does not prevent stone chips or deter the formation of dents, rust, or natural paint wear.
15. The coating is primarily applied only to the paint surface and window trims. If the customer wishes for small gaps and other areas to be coated, this must be communicated before bringing in the car. This may affect the overall price. Also, window trims or similar areas intended for wrapping must be mentioned to Restyling Point before coating, if the wraps are being done by another company.
16. Glass coatings and wheel coatings are installed only on nearly new cars. This is because the coating does not adhere as well to scratched glass or wheels. Coating can be applied to a used car only without warranty. In wheel coating, the wheels are coated using a pen spray gun, using a lift attached to the car. This process also coats the brake calipers. If you wish for the tires to be removed, please inform us before making an appointment. This affects the schedule and possibly the price.
17. Leather coating is always applied to the seats, which are cleaned by Restyling Point. Seats of new cars are cleaned more lightly. The price may vary depending on the dirtiness of the seats. Leather coating can also be applied to other leather parts (dashboard, door panels, etc.) in the interior; this has a different price than coating leather seats. Inquire about these before making an appointment.
18. All details of the vehicle can be coated, such as door gaps, exhaust pipes, bottom parts, and glossy interior parts, etc. Inquire about these before making an appointment. These are not included in the price of ceramic coating for the car’s exterior paint by default.
19. If a taped surface is coated, the same warranty conditions apply. Additionally, the tape surface has a different structure than the paint surface. Therefore, it has been observed that ceramic coating lasts slightly less time on tape than on paint. If the ceramic coating warranty on the paint surface is 3 years, on the tape surface, the ceramic coating lasts approximately 2 years.
20. Polishing is required for coating a paint protection film. Polishing involves a 1-3 step method.
Paint Polishing/Detailing Warranty Terms and Procedures
1. The car must always be brought unwashed; we wash the car before polishing.
2. The car must not be waxed before being brought in for polishing.
3. Any recent paintwork must be reported to Restyling so that we can avoid freshly painted areas.
4. A price range is provided for the work, which is refined after the car is washed. In some cases, a precise price may be given.
5. The car is always photographed before starting the polishing process by Restyling Point, only if we notice anything unusual related to the target object. These include deep scratches, paint defects, beginning paint defects, oxidized window trims, significant stone chips, polishing compounds left due to car dealerships between panels, burnt plastic parts due to failed polishing, etc. Photos are sent to the customer as evidence that the marks did not occur due to our actions.
6. If anything unusual is found on the car, it is possible to rectify these during the work process. For example, removal of old wax residues/polishing compounds from between panels.
7. Repairing stone chip damage is not included in the basic car paint polishing service. This service can certainly be added to the polishing process. We request customers to bring their own paint matching the car’s color code. We can repair 1-5 points free of charge, but these must always be reported in advance. Repairing larger stone chip damages is done on an hourly basis and is charged based on the actual work done.
8. During polishing, scratches are removed according to the selected “Step” or number of polishing stages. For example, a 1-step process only removes light scratches, a 2-step process removes significantly more scratches than a 1-step process but leaves deeper scratches. In a 3-step polishing process, all scratches that can be removed by polishing are removed. Not all deep scratches can be removed by polishing because the polishing process has its limitations.
9. Deep scratches that have gone through the clear coat cannot be removed by paint polishing. We also do not attempt to remove scratches that may be removed by polishing but would pose a significant risk of causing extensive paint damage or burning through the paint. It is the customer’s responsibility to authorize the removal of very deep scratches, which carry a risk of damaging the clear coat.
10. During paint polishing, all exterior paint surfaces on the car are polished, including aftermarket additions such as splitters, side skirts, diffusers, spoilers, etc., only if their surface is suitable for polishing. If necessary, this is done at the customer’s risk. Polishing of small gaps, for example, on the front grille, incurs an additional charge.
11. Polishing of exhaust pipes or wheels is always a separate process. Please inquire separately for these services.
12. Polishing of door jambs is not included in the polishing service price. This is always a separate process.
13. Parts or other items are not disassembled during the polishing process. If any part needs to be removed for a better result, this will be notified/requested from the customer.
14. Deep scratches on plastic bumpers or plastic parts are not removed due to the risk of melting/burning the plastic. Scratches are removed to the extent that is safe.
15. Headlights are polished using only a polishing machine.
16. Rough black plastic parts are always protected during polishing with thick painter’s tape to prevent any marks from the polishing process.
17. If there are insect marks or paint haze on the car that need to be removed, an hourly charge will be applied for their removal.
18. If leather is worn due to natural wear and tear or due to leather dyeing, it may be damaged during the leather cleaning process because it is typically thinner/more worn. For example, this steering wheel was already worn on the left side at the top; after leather cleaning, the wear increased slightly. The photo on the left is before starting the work, and on the right is after leather cleaning.
General
Ceramic coatings are actually a relatively young invention as they are constantly being updated and improved. A ceramic coating is the descendant of waxes, providing a more durable chemical protective layer.
Ceramic coatings come with their own warranty based on scientifically researched results provided by the coating manufacturer. The realistic lifespan of a ceramic coating is 1-3 years, depending on car care practices and mileage. Regular and careful car washing can extend the durability of a ceramic coating.
Restyling Point does not chemically manufacture the products/materials it installs, such as ceramic coatings. We innovatively keep an eye out for new products, test them, and continuously seek the latest and best chemical technology to provide our customers with the highest quality car care products. The warranty provided by Restyling Point is the warranty given by the ceramic coating manufacturer, so in the event of any claims, the matter is handled with the manufacturer’s representatives. Our task is to find the best possible material for the customer and install it in the most durable way possible on the customer’s vehicle.
Hazardous Chemicals: The pH indicator is what to pay attention to when choosing cleaning products. Cleaning agents that are too alkaline or too acidic can affect the durability of ceramic coatings.
The pH scale ranges from 1 to 13.5. Cleaning agents with a pH below 5 are not recommended for ceramic coatings. Pre-wash agents may be too acidic, which can cause chemical damage to coated surfaces such as window trims or paintwork.
Car washing can be done incorrectly, as shown in this example. In such cases, it is advisable to neutralize the acidic substance with an alkaline substance, such as a strong car shampoo (pH 12), and wipe the affected areas with it.
Wheel cleaning agents are often highly acidic. When they splash onto a ceramic coating, they may affect the coating’s hydrophobicity.
Cleaning Tools: Mechanical abrasion typically occurs with sponges and brushes. We recommend using clean, new cleaning tools to minimize scratches.
Features:
– During winter, the coating may become clogged. Road salt and other chemicals on the road are the cause of this. The pores of the ceramic coating become blocked, preventing the coating from breathing freely and being as hydrophobic as before.
– The use of solvent and iron removal agents opens up this clogging and restores the ceramic coating to its original functionality.
– During springtime pollen season, ceramic coating does not reduce the amount of pollen in the car.
– Using a snow brush can cause scratches on the paint surface. It’s best to use a leaf blower to blow the snow off.
– Storing the car in a warm garage during winter can be harmful to the coating, especially if a dirty car is stored in a warm environment. In such storage solutions, regular washing before bringing the car inside is recommended.
– If the car is not dried during washing and the wash water is left to dry, it will likely result in lime deposits on the car’s paint surface, which may need to be polished off in the worst-case scenario.
– Acid rain may leave droplet marks on the coating after drying.
