Recently, we had the honor of working on a project where a black sports car was transformed into a stunning bright yellow masterpiece using vehicle wrapping.
First Impressions and Color Selection
When the customer walked in, they had a clear vision: the car’s color needed to reflect an iconic shade of yellow associated with certain sports cars. This wasn’t an easy task. The pigment had to be perfect and as close as possible to the original shade. To achieve this, the wrap had to be custom-ordered from abroad, as none of the ready-made shades met the specific requirements.
This kind of custom-order process isn’t standard, but for us, it’s part of our customer-focused approach. High-quality wrapping begins with the right materials—the pigment must be precise, the wrap durable, and capable of withstanding time and weather conditions.
Why Did the Customer Choose Wrapping?
Buying a new car just for the right color isn’t practical for most people. Wrapping offers a more cost-effective and flexible alternative, allowing the owner to change the car’s look repeatedly. The wrap can be removed or replaced to create a new style, adding versatility to the car. Additionally, wrapping protects the original paint from wear and tear, helping to maintain the car’s resale value.
Project Progress Step by Step
1. Preparation – A Flawless Surface for Wrapping
Everything starts with meticulous preparation. The black sports car was thoroughly washed, and its surfaces clay-barred to remove even the smallest impurities, such as tar and residue. This is a critical step, as the wrap adheres only to a completely clean and smooth surface.
The engine bay was treated with special care during the detailing wash. Every nook and edge was thoroughly cleaned to ensure the car’s overall appearance was pristine. Additionally, the door frames and inner arches were washed, as they too were wrapped in the same yellow shade. This ensured the car’s look remained consistent, even when the doors were open.
2. Wrap Application – Mastering Complex Shapes
The design of a sports car is full of challenges. Curved surfaces, sharp edges, and deep lines make wrapping a technically demanding task. The application was carried out in stages using high-quality tools that allow for flexible handling of the wrap.
All surfaces, including black window trims, front bumper trims, and other external details, were carefully wrapped. Special precision was required for complex areas like the bumper’s intricate shapes, where every inch of the wrap was applied and finished by hand. This meticulous work ensures a seamless finish with no trace of the original color.
3. Protective and Finishing Treatments
Once the wrap was applied, the next step was to provide additional protection for the car’s surface. A durable 5-year ceramic coating was applied over the wrap to protect it from dirt, scratches, and weather conditions.
All glass surfaces were treated with a protective coating that offers UV protection and makes it easier to remove water and dirt. The windshield was fitted with a Stek DynoFlex shatter-resistant film, protecting it from stone chips and preserving the original windshield.
The wheels were coated on both the summer and winter tire sets, and the inner arches were treated with the same ceramic coating. This provides extra protection, especially in harsh weather conditions. Additionally, the leather surfaces inside the car were coated to keep them in pristine condition for years to come.
4. Finishing – Perfect Details
Finally, we focused on the small details that make the overall look cohesive. The license plate mount was adjusted for a sleeker appearance, giving the car’s front a neat and stylish finish. The windows were lightly tinted to block UV radiation without making the interior too dark.
Special attention was given to the uniformity of the door frames and inner arches. The entire inside of the doors was wrapped in the same yellow shade as the exterior. This means the car’s color scheme remains consistent even when the doors are open—a detail often overlooked.
The Result – Wrapping That Speaks for Itself
After 45 hours of work and about five business days, the car was ready. The result was a bright yellow wrap that commands attention and accentuates the car’s dynamic design. The car didn’t just look incredible—it was also better protected than ever. The customer’s vision was perfectly realized, and the final result exceeded their expectations.
